Kinetic Fiber Internet Installation Underway in Twinsburg Neighborhoods
Residents may have noticed utility markings, small excavation areas, or crews working in neighborhoods throughout Twinsburg. This work is part of Kinetic’s fiber internet installation project, which is bringing fiber-rated internet speeds to more areas of the community.
The City of Twinsburg is excited to see expanded access to faster, more reliable internet service for residents and businesses. Fiber internet has become an important part of modern life, supporting everything from remote work and online learning to streaming, smart-home devices, telehealth, and everyday communication.
At the same time, we know this type of work can raise questions, especially when crews are working near sidewalks, front yards, driveways, and utility boxes. We want to help residents better understand what is happening and who to contact with questions.
This Is a Private Utility Project
The fiber installation work is being completed by Kinetic and its contractor, Ervin Cable Construction, LLC. This is a private utility project, not a City of Twinsburg construction project.
Ervin Cable Construction and its partners are placing fiber optic cables throughout the community as part of Kinetic’s telecommunications service expansion. According to the project flyer being distributed in affected neighborhoods, the work is intended to provide residents and businesses with “a faster, stronger, and more reliable internet connection.”
Why Crews Are Working Near Sidewalks and Front Yards
Most of the work is taking place in utility easements that were established when subdivisions were originally built.
In many neighborhoods, these easements are located between the sidewalk and the house. They are typically about 10 to 12 feet wide and were set aside for utilities such as electric, gas, phone, cable, and internet providers. These areas allow utility companies to install, maintain, repair, or upgrade.
In areas of the city where utilities are above ground, such as where power and telephone poles are located near the street, much of the fiber work has already been completed. Kinetic is now working in neighborhoods where utilities are underground, which requires boring and placement of new fiber lines within existing easements.
Where utility easements do not exist, or where the fiber line needs to cross a road, the work may take place within the City right-of-way.
What Residents May See During the Installation Process
Before work begins, the Ohio Utility Protection Service, commonly known as OUPS, is notified so existing underground utilities can be marked. Residents may see colored flags or paint identifying the location of water, gas, electric, cable, or other underground lines.
Once utilities are marked, Kinetic’s contractor may dig small holes, usually about 2 feet deep, approximately every 20 feet. These holes allow the contractor to bore underground and place the fiber cable between them without digging a continuous trench.
After the work is complete, the contractor is responsible for restoring affected lawn areas with seed and straw where necessary.
Property Restoration and Installation Questions
The flyer from Ervin Cable Construction states that its crews will handle the work with expertise and focus on a smooth process, including restoration of affected areas.

Thank You for Your Patience
The City understands that utility work in neighborhoods can be inconvenient and sometimes confusing. However, this project represents an important investment in expanded high-speed internet access throughout Twinsburg.
We appreciate residents’ patience as Kinetic and its contractor complete this work, and we encourage anyone with questions or concerns about the installation to contact the appropriate project representatives listed above.
Thank you for your contribution!
